I figured I’d start it off with Oppo’s favourite bike from my hoard.
The Goldwing ran perfectly aside from needing the choke far longer than I thought it would, leading to a few embarrassing stalls. The 37 degree temps of last night were by far the coldest I’ve ever ridden the thing. I forget some of these old bikes are really cold blooded. Got in about 140 miles before I called it quits for the night.
On my to do list for this bike are new front indicators (I ripped out the ones I bought last year after the LEDs in them basically immediately failed ) and to get a tach cable.
Weather permitting, I’ll be finishing some fixes on the CF Moto tonight and finally starting on that GSX1100G. :)

37? Yeah you are way braver than me

It topped 50 yesterday, but by the time I got off work it was already 44, then ultimately 37 by the time I got home. lol
Lowest I’ve ever ridden in was 5 degrees on the CF Moto.

Coldest I’ve ridden in was 28 degrees. The CX500 started up pretty much the same as any other sub-60-degree temperature. Full choke, crank, let it idle, slowly push the choke in as the revs climb as it warms up. After about a minute it’s good to go with the choke off.

140 miles? You’re an inspiration ! I should really drive my cars for fun more often. Right now they’re fighting to see who gets to go to Home Depot...

5 would be the coldest for me, but that was with the CF Moto.
M y GS850 works similar to how you describe the CX . I generally never need choke for longer than a few minutes. This is the first time I’ve ridden the GL1100 in weather colder than 70 degrees, so this is definitely new to me. Of course, the GL’s using a VW carb as well. I’m already off to the Goldwing boards reading threads about this.

If you plan on selling that ever I might be interested depending on my bank account (though I expect it to be relatively underfunded with the new addition to our family)

Oof...hopefully it was a short ride on city streets. Coldest I’ve done is upper 20s and that was a longer ride on the highway.

Oh cool, the GL already has that conversion done?
Damn I want that thing. It’d look super sweet with slightly lower profile seat and bars and no luggage on it.

Yep! That was the last thing done to it before it was sold to me.
I’m torn on getting rid of the bags, but I’m definitely getting rid of the bars. They’re great for highway cruising, but they’re a pain to do any sort of tight maneuver with. Ideally I’ll be going for a cafe style bar or one with not as aggressive as a rake as these ones have.

let me know when something distracts you this summer and the goldwing needs to disappear. I might be down for a road trip
